Dr Tiffany Hassen

Dr Tiffany Hassen is a Consultant General Surgeon who completed her undergraduate degree (MBBS) at The University of Adelaide. She was awarded scholarships from both The University of Adelaide and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons for research which was the basis of her Master of Surgery degree granted by the University of Adelaide whilst still training as a General Surgeon. Dr Hassen is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in General Surgery, having been trained at all tertiary hospitals in South Australia and the Northern Territory.

Tiffany was employed as a Visiting Surgeon in Whyalla, Port Lincoln and Mount Gambier Hospitals before undertaking sub-specialty training in Upper Gastro-intestinal Surgery at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital. She completed sub-speciality training in bariatric surgery in Sydney at St George Public Hospital and St George Private Hospital, the highest volume bariatric hospital in Australia, and subsequently at Flinders Medical Centre and the Adelaide Bariatric Centre.

Tiffany has presented and published research at national and international levels. Her principal focus is the provision of primary bariatric surgery and has a strong commitment to the multi-disciplinary approach in achieving optimal weight loss outcomes. She continues to retain great interest in the provision of general surgery procedures. She is a member of General Surgeons Australia (GSA), the Australian & New Zealand Metabolic and Obesity Surgery Society (ANZMOSS) and the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO).
