Overstitch stomal closure (TORE procedure)
The overstitch stomal closure procedure in certain circumstances assist with additional weight loss following a Roux-en-Y gastric bypass
The TORE procedure
Transoral Outlet Reduction (TORE) is an endoscopic procedure specifically to revise a previous Roux-en-Y gastric bypass. Under general anaesthesia your Adelaide Bariatric Centre surgeon endoscopically uses the Apollo Overstitch System to reduce the size of the gastrojejunal outlet. This can assist with further weight loss after a Roux-en-Y gastric bypass.
TORE is only effective when combined with a program that includes behavioural therapy, exercise and dietary changes. This is available through Adelaide Bariatric Centre. Please discuss with your surgeon at your first appointment to see if a TORE procedure is appropriate for you.
